An elegantly bound leather journal, its muted taupe cover embossed with an understated cross and delicate gold detailing, rests atop a smooth wooden table. Subtle wisps of incense curl in the softly lit background, blurring into gentle gradients of grey and warm beige. Diffused morning light filters through a nearby window, illuminating the journal's refined textures and casting graceful, elongated shadows. The composition is centered with a shallow depth of field, allowing the minimalist elements—just the journal, the wood grain, and soft light—to take focus. The photographic realism and sophisticated simplicity evoke a sense of quiet reflection, authenticity, and contemplative faith, perfectly aligning with a spiritual reflections blog.

Faith, Spirit, Song

Join me in my daily reflection on the Mass, leadership in community, and living out faith with motherhood and music.

Faith & Spirit

Attending daily Mass has given me an opportunity to be in silent communion with God and myself. The Daily Word and the homily give me room to think, introspect and reflect. I am often comforted as certain thoughts move me towards conscious action. But there are times when I am discomforted as well. Sometimes the dissonance maybe with the homily delivered – a contentious view, an inappropriate joke made from the pulpit, a tone deaf view of social and political matters…. but sometimes, the discomfort lies in a coming quite to my own bitter truths and shortcomings.

This, here, is a place of reflection. Please see the blog.

A single flickering beeswax candle in an unadorned brass holder is positioned at the edge of a polished stone altar, bathed in the subdued glow of overcast daylight. The subtle gradient of candlelight melds with the slate tones of the altar, while faint outlines of hymnals and a distant, ornately carved choir bench provide depth in the softly blurred background. Captured from a slight side angle, the scene feels reverent and serene, with minimalist elegance and refined details emphasizing spiritual warmth and sacred simplicity—an ideal visual for reflections on Mass and faith.

Spirit & Song

Singing brings me comfort and a sense of giving – particularly hymns. Some days, a hymn comes to mind out of nowhere – from a childhood memory, or just to hold my day in place. Singing revives me in ways nothing else can. Singing in church, with the acoustics that resound the softest of whispers to the clearest of sopranos, is a vibration that elevates devotion and resounds with the spirit of joy.
